How to Pan-Fry Gyoza for the Perfect Crispy Bottom

There’s something magical about the sound of gyoza sizzling in a hot pan. That golden, crispy bottom paired with a juicy filling is what makes pan-fried gyoza a timeless favorite.

Here’s how to cook Tsakua Gyoza to perfection.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 bag of Tsakua Gyoza (frozen)

  • 1–2 tablespoons oil

  • ½ cup water

  • Non-stick pan with lid

Step 1: Heat the Pan

Place your pan over medium heat and add oil. Let it warm until it shimmers slightly.

Step 2: Place the Gyoza

Arrange frozen gyoza flat-side down in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the pan. Let them cook for about 2–3 minutes until the bottoms turn lightly golden.

Step 3: Add Water & Steam

Carefully pour in ½ cup water (it will sizzle). Immediately cover with a lid and let steam for 5–6 minutes, or until the water has mostly evaporated.

Step 4: Crisp to Finish

Remove the lid and continue cooking until the bottoms become beautifully golden and crispy.

Serve hot with soy sauce, rice vinegar, and a touch of chili oil.

That first crispy bite? That’s tradition meeting comfort.
